Moments that last beyond the night
Moments that last beyond the night
Loose, luminous watercolour portraits that turn fleeting moments into something that lasts - capturing people's character and energy when they're most intentionally themselves. It creates gentle theatre: elegant on the table, joyful in the moment.
My work as an artist and illustrator has spanned theatrical costume design through to styling events with Melbourne Fashion Week and the NGV. That background means I see beyond the surface. I notice gesture, silhouette, and the way clothing communicates personality, and aim to translate this to every illustration.
Your wedding or celebration becomes a collection of small, considered artworks.

Experience and keepsake
Guests watch their illustrations take shape throughout your celebration, then take home an original artwork. Throughout your event, people return to see what's emerging and who's been captured. The process becomes part of your event's atmosphere.

Heirloom-quality artwork
Artist-quality watercolour pigments on archival cotton paper. Each piece is signed, dated, and made to frame, not be forgotten in a drawer. These use the same museum-grade materials any serious painter or illustrator would use for gallery work, created in real time at your event.

How it works
From initial conversation to final delivery, the process is designed to be straightforward. You focus on your celebration; I handle the rest.
1. Initial consultation
Get in touch with your date, venue, and guest count. If I'm available, we'll arrange a call to discuss your celebration's aesthetic and see if it's the right fit. This is where we determine which package works and answer any questions before you commit.
2. Booking and preparation
A 50% deposit secures your date. Closer to your event (about 4 weeks out), we'll have a planning consultation to finalise details: your custom paper design, timing, any cultural or ceremonial elements you'd like reflected, specific requests.
3. Your celebration
I arrive early and set up a dedicated station. Guests visit when they're ready – I photograph them, note their name, and they head back to your celebration while I work through the list. I draw throughout at approximately 10-12 guests per hour. It becomes a gentle focal point where guests can watch work develop.
4. Collection and delivery
Finished illustrations are displayed throughout the event. Guests collect their piece before leaving, each packaged in archival sleeves with backing board, ready to frame. If I don't complete everyone during your allocated hours, I finish the remaining pieces in my studio and deliver them within 14 days at no charge.

Common questions
How far in advance should I book a live illustrator for my wedding?
Most couples reach out 8-15 months before their date, particularly for spring and summer. I take on a limited number of weddings and celebrations each year so I can give proper attention to each one. Once you've confirmed your date and venue, get in touch – we'll see if it works.

What happens on the event day?
I arrive early, set up efficiently, and start photographing guests. Then I'm drawing for the rest of your wedding or celebration. Guests can wander over to watch, see what's taking shape, and pick up their piece at the end of your celebration. You just need a table and chair. I bring everything else, including the inevitable interest from curious passersby.

How do you handle the queue?
Guests visit the station when they're ready. I photograph them, note their name, and they can head back to your celebration while I work through the list in order. If there are specific people you'd like prioritised – bridal party, immediate family, VIPs – just flag that during our planning consultation. Entirely manageable, and most couples have a few names they want captured early.

How many guests can be illustrated?
Approximately 8-10 per hour, around 5 minutes per guest, though more detailed or complex outfits may take a little longer. The guest count in each package is guaranteed: if I run behind on the day and don't complete everyone within the allocated time, I'll finish the remaining illustrations in my studio and get them to you within 14 days at no extra charge.
For celebrations where you'd like more guests illustrated than the package time allows, I can complete additional portraits in my studio afterward at a quoted hourly rate, or arrange for a second illustrator to work alongside me on the day.

Can the paper be customised?
Simple customisation (monograms, wedding dates, the couple's initials) is included in all packages. More complex illustrated elements like venue or floral motifs can be arranged as add-ons at an additional quoted cost. We'll work through what makes sense during our consultation.

Do you travel?
I'm based in Melbourne and happily work across Victoria, including the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, Bellarine Peninsula and Macedon Ranges. For venues beyond 75 minutes from Melbourne CBD, travel fees may apply but these are billed at true cost without markup. If you've sorted supplier accommodation already, let me know and I'll see if I can fold into those arrangements.
